When I heard it was supposed to be 70 degrees during the second week of April, I knew a beach trip was in order! So I packed my 3 year old (and his friend!) up and headed to Georgetown!
Reid State Park has always been one of my favorite beaches, as well as portrait session locations! I do plenty of Senior and Engagement sessions here. It’s convenient because the parking area is such a short walk to the beach, and if you come during the weekday evenings, or off-season, it’s usually not too busy! My 3 year old, Zane, was so excited, since he had been asking to play in his sandbox all winter. He happily obliged for photos, and even asked me to take more of him when I stopped after a few minutes! I barely had to direct him for these photos, just asked for a smile here or there, otherwise I just let him do his thing! I know I have mom-goggles, but I totally think he’s a natural model! I typically don’t shoot in midday-sun, as it can be a photographer’s nightmare! But sometimes you just have to work with what you have, and I have to say, I am LOVING the abundance of light here! My trick is to just turn my subject away from the sun, so I’m actually shooting into the sun. I over-expose slightly for the background, and then when editing, I brighten the photo even more and lighten the shadows quite a bit. Enjoy these sun-filled pictures of my cutie-pie!
Zane’s friend, Ayeri, also came to the beach with us, so of course I had to get a couple pictures of her! Ayeri and Zane were born only 2 days apart!
