Margaret and Roy’s Bear Mountain Inn + Barn Wedding | Waterford, Maine, Wedding Photographer

Weddings

An early Fall-inspired barn wedding with burgandy and navy colors – and don’t miss the bride’s light saber!

Margaret and Roy met through mutual friends – Meg’s best friend’s husband happened to grow up with Roy. They were acquaintances for several years, seeing each other at gatherings, but never really connected. Then they both were single at the same time and a spark was lit between them! They have been together for about 4 years, and have a Great Dane pup together named Ruckus! Last August, they were hiking on a trail they had been on before, and Roy stopped at a spot that Meg had pointed out the last time they were there, noting how beautiful it was. It was there that Roy asked her to marry him – and of course she said Yes!

I arrived that sunny (yet chilly) September morning to Bear Mountain Inn, and noticed the beautiful white fence and tree lined driveway that the couple fell in love with when they chose this venue. The girls were getting ready in one of the buildings, while staff set up for the reception in the large, open barn. As I was doing the detail photos, I couldn’t help but notice the groom’s teal wedding ring – so unique! Once Meg was in her dress, she had both her Father and her Stepfather come to see her for the first time. It was a sweet moment, with both her Mom and Stepmom there as well. Then we went outside and Meg and Roy saw each other for the first time – I think they were both crying the second Roy turned around!  The large front lawn was the perfect spot to take photos of the entire wedding party, as there was plenty of shade and beautiful trees everywhere. The bridesmaids were wearing burgandy dresses, which paired nicely next to Meg’s fall-inspired bouquet, complete with both yellow and maroon sunflowers! We of course had to take some photos with the couple’s fantasy weapons – which were their wedding gifts to each other! Meg and Roy went inside as guests started to arrive, and everyone gathered down by the lake for the ceremony. The flowergirl and ringbearer came down the aisle with bubble guns – it was so adorable! I definitely saw quite a few people shedding some tears during the touching ceremony, and everyone cheered for the newlyweds when they finally said I do! After the cocktail hour outside on the patio, guests were seated in the barn, which was decorated with large chandeliers and white drapery. Wildflowers in vases were in the center of each table, along with little honey jars as favors. I loved the animated entrances that the wedding party made into the reception, and the first dances were so beautiful! I especially couldn’t help but notice how Roy’s Mom looked at him during the mother/son dance – it was so sweet! After a delicious dinner by Blue Elephant Catering, guests danced the night away with awesome music, DJ’d by Greg Young. There were so many donuts and treats on the dessert bar for everyone to enjoy. Outside in the night air, Roy and his friend smoked some cigars, and other guests sat by the fireplace. What an incredible day!

Thank you so much, Meg and Roy, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Dilling!
