If I had to describe John and Carole’s wedding in two words, it would have to be FUN and RELAXING. It really felt like a family day at the lake, which is exactly what I think they wanted it to be like.
When I first Skyped with John and Carole last year, I immediately fell in love with how loving and fun they were! I’m pretty sure I didn’t stop smiling and laughing almost the entire time. They chose to have their wedding at the Yale University Outdoor Educational Center in East Lyme, Connecticut, where Carole has spent plenty of summer days relaxing with friends from Yale. They wanted a place where both of their families and their friends could come together and spend the entire day celebrating with them, and this was the perfect location. John and Carole walked up the aisle together to live music played by a local musician. One fun part about the ceremony was that their officiant was as magician and did a few tricks with the rings. How cool is that?! During the ceremony and the rest of the day, I noticed that John and Carole really seemed to stop and soak in what was going on around them. I loved this about them, because I know how fast wedding days go by! Everyone gathered under the big pavilion for lunch, while the kids played on the nearby playground. After lunch we got the treat of a lifetime – a live Chinese Lion Dance! What an incredible performance by the group, Imperial Lion Dance! Afterwards, Carole changed into a shorter dress with some really fun skull-laden red shoes! The guests spent the afternoon out on the lake until evening came, when it was time for s’mores by the fire! Thank you, Carole and John, for trusting me to capture your amazing day!
