Evan and Juliana’s Wedding | Coastal Maine Wedding Photographer

Weddings

Evan met Juliana on a trip to Maine, where he was visiting friends. They attended the same bonfire one night, and knew there was something special about each other by the time they left that night. After dating long distance for awhile, Evan proposed at a lighthouse last year. They started planning a big wedding where they could have all of their favorite people in one place!

The morning of the wedding was clear, but rainclouds loomed in the forecast. The girls were getting ready at a local Air BnB, which had the perfect entryway for getting ready photos! When Juliana’s Mom and niece arrived, I heard squeals of excitement from the next room – the big day was finally here! Juliana’s Mom helped her into her dress, and we kept the bridesmaids and flowergirl upstairs to do a big reveal. We first had her Dad come in to see her, but he broke down in tears before he even got into the room! Unbeknownst to us, Juliana’s niece was peeking through the upstairs banister and started crying as she watched the touching moment between her aunt and grandfather. The guys got ready at the bride’s apartment down the road, and Evan had the biggest smile on while he was getting his suit on. You could tell he really just couldn’t wait to marry the love of his life!

The bridesmaids wore varying shades of green, with one of them wearing white with small flowers – a perfect accent dress! The groomsmen donned lavender shirts and ties – a beautiful nod to a Spring wedding! The groom had on a navy blue suit, while his groomsmen wore light gray. One of the bridesmaids had handcrafted the lavender bouquets, and many of the couple’s friends and family had help set up the reception – the whole day was a celebration of love for this couple! Once everyone was ready, we drove over to the Kingdom Hall, where Juliana and Evan are members. Evan’s father officiated the ceremony, and at the end, they had their witnesses sign the marriage certificate as part of the ceremony. It had started raining during the ceremony, but we were still able to do most of the portraits outdoors, even though it was freezing out! We of course had to drive to the coast for some memorable photos in front of the lighthouse – so worth it!

Juliana’s friends and family gave beautiful speeches during the reception – I may have found myself tearing up a time or two! Juliana’s niece performed a special song, and Juliana surprised her Mom with a Mother/Daughter dance (personally, I think this should be a thing at every wedding!). Once the music started that night, the dance floor stayed full as everyone sang, laughed, and danced the night away! I love the records they had out as a guest book, and the personalized chocolates at each place setting.

Thank you so much, Evan and Juliana, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Powley!

Also, thank you to all the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
