There was a calmness in the air on Kaleb and DeEtte’s wedding day. Planning a small, intimate gathering of their closest family and friends, there wasn’t a lot of rushing around, or a strict timeline. Kaleb sent DeEtte roses while she was at the salon getting her hair done. DeEtte got ready in a small room in the church with her Mom and her best friend. They were torn between laughing and crying. Once all the guests were inside, we stepped outside for a moment to do a first look with her Dad. The look on his face was pure joy and pride.
DeEtte and I went to High School, and then College, together. We’ve led separate lives up until now, checking in now and then when we pass by each other at Panera Bread. So I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding, which happened on a chilly, but sunny, day in late March. The ceremony was held under a large cross in the sanctuary at their church, Kennebec Community Church in Augusta, Maine. The candles and twinkle lights created a romantic and cozy feel to the sweet ceremony. Afterwards, we headed to a nearby lake where we took our time getting some gorgeous shots of the couple with a very Maine-esque backdrop. The guests gathered at Kaleb and DeEtte’s home nearby, where a brunch (DeEtte’s fav!) was awaiting, including some delectable creme brulee french toast that was to die for! Toasts were given, plenty of hugs were shared, and the couple mingled the afternoon away surrounded by their loved ones. I honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect day for this lovely couple! Congratulations Kaleb and DeEtte, and thank you for entrusting your special day to me!
DeEtte created this beautiful backdrop below as a place where her guests could take pictures! She also asked her guests to highlight their favorite Bible verse in her and Kaleb’s Bible!
