Dusty blues and spring greens set the tone for this beautiful May wedding in Western Maine! A gorgeous white barn, succulents, and a ceremony in a wooden chapel – Laura and Kyle’s dream wedding finally happened!
Laura and Kyle met 6 years ago the day before Valentine’s Day. For their first date, they ended up in the middle of a snowstorm and couldn’t find the restaurant, and ended up having tacos instead! Their original wedding date was in May of 2020. You can imagine the chaos during that time, having to postpone their wedding less than 2 months beforehand. With the majority of the guests and vendors having their vaccines, Laura and Kyle felt confident moving forward with their May 2021 wedding. Funny story – Laura’s last name is D00ley, and Kyle’s last name is Duley. That’s right, their last names are spelled differently, but pronounced the same – how unique is that?!
Laura is a photographer herself, so she chose a venue that would showcase her wedding and give me so many gorgeous backdrop options throughout the day. The girls got ready in the whitewashed barn, and the guys suited up in one of the rooms of the house. The forecast showed rain, so I showed up toting a plethora of clear umbrellas, which thankfully we didn’t end up needing! The skies were overcast all day, but the rain held off.
There were so many beautiful details of this wedding that you’ll see in the photos below. The best man handmade a custom lobster claw ring box. Laura and her bridesmaids wore clay jewelry with tiny succulents on them, matching the reception decor. A good friend made Laura’s wedding dress, which looks straight out of a bridal shop! Another friend made the couple custom Star Wars themed jackets! Laura and Kyle chose to do a first look in the backyard garden. We were able to get almost all of the photos taken before the ceremony, allowing the couple to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests. The venue has a great area for the social hour, complete with a fire pit, and plenty of Adirondack chairs to go around! The sailcloth tent was set up behind the barn, and was absolutely stunning! After dinner, the fun really began as the guests filled the dance floor. The atmosphere was so light and joyous, it honestly felt incredible after almost a year and a half of very restricted social gatherings. Dessert was served in the house – a full table overflowing with delicious bite-sized treats! Laura and Kyle chose not to do a traditional cake cutting, but instead had their own little cheesecake to celebrate!
Thank you so much, Kyle and Laura, for trusting me to photograph your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Duley!
