This beautiful couple gets married at Tanner’s family barn on a warm September afternoon. From pastel blue bridesmaid dresses, tall floral vases on the tables, and confetti poppers – the details at this wedding were so special and fun!
Caitlin and I instantly connected when we realized we share a mutual love of the classic movie, “The Princess Bride”. Caitlin is an artist – she paints, does graphic design. So for her wedding, she wanted photos that were more than just capturing the day – she trusted me as a fellow artist to really find the beauty in all the small moments and details that her and Tanner put so much thought and effort into. Tanner and Caitlin have been together for about 4 years, and when I met them for their engagement session at Higgins Beach last summer, I was amazed by how comfortable I felt around these two. They both have sweet and kind demeanors, and it’s just easy to feel calm and at peace when you’re talking with them. When planning their wedding, it was a no brainer that they would get married at the Storey family barn. Tanner’s Grandfather built this barn in 1977, and his uncle renovated it several years ago and they have been using it for family weddings ever since. With two stories, bathrooms, a bar, and surrounded by a huge lawn and a small grove of apple trees, this place is not only functional, but absolutely beautiful!
I arrived that Saturday morning in September, and Caitlin was getting her hair done with her bridesmaids and Mom. The atmosphere was peaceful, but with an air of excitement and anticipation! My second photographer, Laura, met Tanner at the barn with his groomsmen. Most of Tanner’s extended family all live nearby, so this was a huge family event, and everyone seemed to know everyone else! As guests started to arrive, they made their way down behind the barn to the ceremony site, where handmade wooden benches were perched in front of a beautiful arbor with summer florals. The sun was already strong, and it was quite a warm day for mid-September. As each of Tanner’s groomsmen came down the aisle, they gave Tanner a hug. I loved watching Tanner’s face as he saw Caitlin for the first time – she looked absolutely stunning in her fitted dress! During the ceremony, my personal favorite part was when their officiant asked them to look out at their audience for a minute, and she spoke about how this is probably the only time in their lives where all of their favorite people would be together in one place. A kiss sealed the deal, and then we found some shade for family photos! After the cocktail hour, entrances began, and boy was I surprised when the first bridesmaid and groomsmen came in with confetti poppers! Brides – I LOVED this idea! Not only was it fun and surprising, but the colorful confetti covered the dance floor to add some fun color to the barn reception. I also loved the ribbon streamers that the couple gave to all the kids there that day! Dinner was a delicious BBQ spread, and there were so many desserts, including cake pops made by the bride herself, cannolis, cake, and peanut butter fudge! Best of all, a live band was there to kick off the dance party, and guests danced their hearts out for the rest of the evening, with a unique Harvest Moon out in the night sky above them!
Thank you so much, Caitlin and Tanner, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Storey!
Also, thank you to all the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
