Garrett and Tatyana’s Tarry A While Resort Wedding | Bridgton, Maine, Wedding Photographer

Weddings

Tatyana lived in Maine or Massachusetts most of her life, while Garrett grew up in Virginia. Their families both vacationed in the Outer Banks growing up, but it wasn’t until they were both working there one summer that they finally crossed paths, starting their wonderful adventure together! At the end of the summer, they started their long distance relationship, flying to see each other once a month. A year later, they moved in together and they would travel to New England to visit her family, where they loved visiting the lighthouses and traveling up and down the coast. During one of their visits last Fall, Garrett suggested that they stopped in downtown Boston, where the start of the Boston Marathon is. He took her into a gazebo and told her, “This is where I want to start our forever.” Afterwards, they went to Tatyana’s favorite brewery, where she was surprised by not only her family being there, but Garrett’s family as well, who had driven up all the way from Virginia!

For their wedding, Tatyana and Garrett wanted their friends and family to all experience Maine for a weekend! The bride’s family has a lakehouse near Tarry a While Resort, and when they looked into it for their wedding, they fell in love! I can’t blame them – Tarry a While is a unique Maine wedding venue that offers couples the opportunity to lodge 60 of their friends and family on site. Guests can enjoy all the resort amenities at the lakefront, Social Hall, fire pit and various lawn games. When I arrived the morning of Tatyana and Garrett’s wedding, the girls were getting ready upstairs at the main house, and the gentleman were gathering at a nearby house. The couple had mentioned wanting “Game Day” photos, but boy was Tatyana surprised when she saw what they had in store for those (you’ll have to scroll down to see)! Tatyana did a first look with her bridesmaids, as well as her Dad, in the bridal suite, which was so much fun! The best thing about the entire day for me was watching Tatyana – this bride was so incredibly and openly JOYFUL and her infectious smile and laughter brightened everyone who was around her!

The ceremony was held down by the lakefront, with a beautiful lake and mountain backdrop. Although Garrett’s face was so sweet when he saw Tatyana for the first time, I think Tatyana’s sister had an even better reaction as she could barely contain her emotion seeing her sister! The officiant, Emily, did an incredible job sharing Tatyana and Garrett’s story, and slowing down time to really allow them to process and take in what was happening. The rings had a special presentation by the groomsmen involving furry handcuffs and medical gloves … again, you’ll have to scroll down to see! After they were officially pronounced husband and wife (!), we took some time for portraits down by the lake, where the breeze was so nice and cooling! Then we headed back up the hill to the reception, where everyone spent the rest of the evening enjoying the delicious food provided by the venue, taking in the stunning mountain overlook, and dancing outside under the stars and hanging lights on the stone patio. We ended the evening taking some sunset photos down at the dock, really a perfect way to complete a spectacular day!

Thank you so much, Tatyana and Garrett, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Fields!

Also, thank you to all the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
