A formal nautical-inspired coastal Maine wedding with beautifully sentimental details in every part of the day!
Jennifer and Zachary met when they were only 11 years old and in the 6th grade. As the years have gone on, they’ve lived life both together and apart, but 8 years ago, they found each other again, and have never been happier!
Growing up, Jennifer’s grandfather would often take her to his favorite restaurant, and it became a special place for the both of them. Although he passed away several years ago, Jennifer knew she wanted to have her wedding at that same restaurant, Coastal Prime. Throughout the day, she was overwhelmed with emotion thinking of all the good times they had had together there! Coastal Prime is located right on the water in Boothbay Harbor. There is a huge deck outside of the restaurant where the ceremony and reception was held, it is truly an amazing oceanfront venue! Jen and Zachary have 3 kids, who were a big part of the day!
I arrived that afternoon and noticed what a beautifully warm and sunny day it was for September. Wedding preparations were in full force, and I found the girls getting ready at the property right next to the venue, where they had their own little deck overlooking the ocean. It was such a perfect backdrop for this nautical wedding, where Jennifer and Zachary had planned so many special details throughout the day. There were buoys and life preservers displayed around the venue inscribed with the names of loved ones who had passed away – what a beautiful way to remember them! Jen’s daughter was with us getting ready, so of course we had to get some photos of her with Jen’s dress and shoes! Once the girls were all ready and Jennifer was in her stunning dress, we took a shuttle to the other side of the harbor and boarded The Nellie G. We had a short and beautifully breezy ride back to Coastal Prime, where the guests were seated and the ceremony was ready to begin! Jen’s father helped her off the boat, and walked her over to her Dad, and both men walked Jen down the aisle. There were so many laughs and tears during the ceremony, it was so sweet to watch Jen and Zachary’s loved ones, as you could really tell how much they cared for this couple!
After they were finally pronounced husband and wife after all these years, they boarded the Nellie G. along with their kids and wedding party to go on a celebratory cruise! We stopped briefly at their boat, which was docked on the other side of the harbor, to take a few photos there. We did all of the formal photos on the docks outside of the venue. It was very warm that day, so everyone was definitely happy to get inside the air conditioned restaurant for dinner! The toasts were both hilarious and heartwarming, they really captured how much this group of friends and family love and adore each other (even if one of the Maid of Honor toasts had more expletives than I’ve ever heard during a toast before)! Guests moved out to the tent on the deck for dancing and we were able to sneak the bride and groom away briefly for some sunset photos. The evening ended with an incredible fireworks display, which I was able to capture from across the harbor on my drive home.
Thank you so much, Jennifer and Zachary, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Tondreau!
Also, thank you to all the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
