A Spring destination wedding at an estate home overlooking the majestic Maine mountains, featuring soft blue and gray touches and incredible florals!
Alec and Sam met 8 years ago. He proposed to her on Christmas in 2021, and although they currently live in the South, they chose to have a destination wedding in the mountains of Maine. They are originally from Vermont, so coming back to New England made them feel at home! 30 of their closest friends and family traveled North and spent the week at the stunning Glen House in Newry, NH. This venue is a luxury estate home that is one of the Sunday River Ski Lodge rental properties, and overlooks the Mahoosuc mountains in Maine. Sam and Alex love being outdoors with their sweet pup, Hazel, so they loved that hosting their wedding at the Glen House enabled them to have their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception outdoors, with having a backup indoor option as well!
When telling me about their wedding, Alec and Sam emphasized that they truly were looking forward to spending the day (and week) with their friends and family. When Laura and I arrived that early afternoon, everyone was bustling about, lending a hand in getting everything ready for the day. I was surprised to see an absolutely gorgeous floral archway when I was walking in, since I didn’t see a florist listed on the vendor list Sam had sent me. After greeting the bride, I asked her who did all the florals, and she said she did them herself! Her and her bridesmaids had taken a floral arranging class, and then purchased and put all the floral arrangements together in the days leading up to the wedding. And let me tell you – it was DEFINITELY worth it! Having that floral backdrop really elevated so many of the photos from the day!
Once the bride and groom were ready, we took a short drive down the street to the Sunday River Covered Bridge, which they had reserved for their first look. They saw each other there for the first time, and were able to take a few minutes alone together, and get some epic veil-flying photos in the bridge! Then we headed back to the house and gathered the bridesmaids and groomsmen for group photos before getting ready for the ceremony. It was impossible to not take a million photos of the cutest little flowergirl I’ve ever seen, she was so sweet! With the perfect Maine mountain scene behind them, Sam and Alec had a sweet and touching ceremony, where almost all the guests were in tears during the vows. They did a tree planting ceremony, where their mothers joined them to add soil from 4 different places that were special to them to a small tree. Everyone was so excited when they were announced as officially married! Guests enjoyed cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres on the patio while we took family photos down on the lawn. Dinner was served right up on the deck, and White Mountain Chalet Catering made some absolutely delicious food! After sunset photos on the golf course, Alec and Sam had their first dance in the living room with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the incredible sunset. What an amazing end to the day!
Thank you so much, Alec and Sam, for trusting me to capture your special day! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Faryniarz!
Also, thank you to all the amazing vendors who made this day possible!
